I was wondering if it would be OK if I threw in a newbie training board? You know, for people new to Warriors and role-playing on advanced?

Yeah, sure! Put it in the General category.... a lot of sites have them.... and I mean, everybody benefits from a little help sometimes- not just newbies. I mean, I get stuff wrong, you get stuff wrong, we all get stuff wrong.... call it RP Tutoring or RP Help or something along those lines, and put some absolute-beginners guides in there... "Introduction to Warriors" (explains warriors series), "Literate RP" (explains what RP is and what the literate style is about), etc. You can, if you want, just make a "Useful Links" thread and link to Wikipedia's Warriors article, Wikipedia's RP article, any guides you find on the web that are useful, etc. But it'd be nice if, at least eventually, we had our own Falling Era handmade guides, it'd feel more... homely.... I don't know. It's a nice idea, and you have my full support.  And for the record, staff (even me) should always consult with other staff before they make major changes, no matter whose site it is. We're a team. But if it's just something like adding one board, and you have the support of other staff and members and there's nobody kicking up a big fuss about how little they want it, you don't need to wait for me too. Only really BIG stuff like changes to the rules or whole new categories or suchlike would need me. |

There can be lots of different guides.... one that introduces you to what Warriors is, one How To RP, one The Literate Style, one About UBBC Coding, etc.

Also, I think we should "train" the newbies, like do 1x1's with them.
So, yeah, you guys get working on some guides. I can code the forums and such.

We could do a 'Private Training Application' thread...
Aha! Let's say you don't want everybody to know that you need/want training. We'll have a Private Training board. If somebody feels that their RP skills really need working on, whether it's grammar or smoothing out bad habits with powerplaying/godmoding or characters or whatever, then they PM a mentor, saying that they want private training. The mentor in question replies back with the password to the Private Mentoring board and the person's mentor. The mentors are assigned/chosen in a thread in the Staff Secrets board- we'll have a thread in there where each mentor says how many they're happy/have time to mentor, and then when a mentor gets a PM from a member asking for private training, the mentor posts on the thread in Staff Secrets and we decide on a personal mentor for the person who sent the PM. The mentor who got PMed then replies to the PM, saying the password for the Private Mentoring board and who the mentor will be. The person's mentor creates a thread in Private Mentoring, titled with the name of the person who is getting mentored. The person getting mentored goes into the Private Mentoring board, finds the thread with their name, and then they can have private training there with their mentor.
Good idea? Criticism? Support? Supplementary ideas?
