LA LA LA LLAMAS.

I had a judo comp yesterday. It was awesome. I took silver. I'm really annoyed, though.

Sometimes, if there's only one or two people in a weight group, they'll make them fight each other for gold and silver, and then they'll put them up against people from other weight groups so they get an opportunity to actually do what they came to do, fight.

So I came on the mat and my first fight was somebody from the weight group above me. And so was my second one.

I won the first one. I won the second one, but it went the full three minutes and it was a complete Pyrrhic victory because after that I was SO. TIRED. Just so tired. She was easily bigger and stronger and heavier than me and I spent half the time on the floor trying to get up before she squashed me flat. I fail at groundwork. I caught her with a complete fluke. She went in completely off balance and I'm like YESSS. THANK YOU and took her with my new favourite, uchi mata. But it was really tiring.

And THEN, now that I was nice and exhausted, I got to actually fight my own weight group. I won most of them but then in the final I was so, so tired. I should have beaten her. She was really worried and it went one minute twenty with me on five yukos or something and her on nothing and then I went in for my other favourite, ko uchi gake, and I was so tired, should've known not to do it but I was really, really tired and really stupid, so she took me with di ashi barai. Kicking myself so hard.

Very annoyed. Oh well. Silver.

I'm allowed to move to the advanced group as soon as my money-pinching parents get me a gee. *grumpy* For now I'm stuck learning the simple stuff over and over.

It's so funny it made my stomach hurt.

The simple stuff over and over isn't that bad. You'll be really happy about it when some fifteen-year-old-brown-belt-country-squadder takes it into her head to enter the same competition as you. Then you'll be really, really glad you practised your breakfalls.

Haha. Gi trouble XD. One of my friends went down to the regionals a few months ago and his dad expected him to get HAMMERED through the floor by all the nasty English-squad people twice his size, so he bet him that if he won a medal, he'd buy him the most expensive gi off the most prestigious expensive company, I don't remember who's the company, I get Fighting Films. With his name embroidered on the back. He won gold. We all laughed so hard, especially at his dad's face when he came out of the changing rooms the next week wearing the gi. It must've cost two hundred quid at least. They can be pretty expensive...

Oh joy. Today the drama teacher lectured how we would all lose the speech competition next quarter because of our groundwork - and he picked on me the most.

I wonder what he would say if he found out that I won the last competition.

*hunts down every last one of my certificates and tapes them on the wall*

Karate! Karate's cool. People at my school mix it up with judo and that makes me REALLY mad because they're totally different. Completely different style.

My dad's got his black belt in karate, so he's taught me a little.

My friend at judo had a black eye yesterday. I AM SO ENVIOUS *fumes* I have ALWAYS wanted a black eye... and I've never had one in my life... *fumes*

Black eyes are badges of honour.

My sister does karate, except she always lets her guard down. So when she attacks me, I just have to grab hold of her leg and kick the other.

The people who playfight in my class are LAME. I literally, like LITERALLY tell them "turn your base foot; it gives you better balance" and "hands UP - protect your face, not thin air!" Sheesh, their style sucks... you shoulda seen the time when they were making fists with their thumb jutted outwards. XD
