Falling Era's community ethos functions on a few basic assumptions.
Firstly, we allow all levels in. This isn't because we want to force high-level writers to respond to rubbishy posts against their will. We allow all levels in because we believe all people are essentially equal, a concept we'll return to later.
Most people are not amazing RPers. Some people are. This is not the fault of anybody.
People who are not amazing RPers are very capable of getting better, learning and improving. But they won't, if the only people they ever get a chance of RPing with are other newbies to the art.
By making some sites 'intermediate to advanced only', newbies don't get to RP with the better people- because all those people are on the 'advanced' sites. So they don't RP with anybody particularly good... so they don't get any better... so they never get a chance to RP on the advanced sites... so they don't get any better... so they never get a chance to RP on the advanced sites... and so on. It's like a snowball rolling downhill.
In addition, if we're not creating many new 'advanced' RPers, and the current number of advanced RPers is always dropping - people go to college or university, get jobs, and find they no longer have time for RPing - then the world will soon run out of advanced RPers. This will be a disaster for the Web.
Falling Era is a place where the advanced players help the other players get better by RPing with them, showing a good example, and offering them tips. By getting all these advanced players, they also get a chance to do advanced RP with each other; getting the best of both worlds.
Surely it's better to have a site where people help each other to improve, rather than excluding some people? That's what Falling Era is all about.
Falling Era is taking things back to the dawn of RPing, when it didn't matter if you could turn out a thousand words at a time - if you're a nice person, that's all that matters. If you're nice to us, we'll be nice to you - no matter how good or bad an RPer you are. It's really that simple.
There are not going to be staff punishments and warnings hanging over your head the entire time to make you behave. We trust our members to be mature enough to behave, and report stupid behaviour. For that reason, staff will mostly stay out of your disputes unless we feel it's getting out of hand. We have rules, but we're relying on you to obey them - not strict punishments to enforce them.
We are devoted to putting our members first. Our staff have no special privileges - they have a job to do and that's all. They have the authority to enforce the rules and maintain order, but that's all. They're treated in all other matters as being equal to the members.
We firmly believe that all members are equal and as such all members should have an equal opportunity to contribute. We welcome suggestions and opinions from everybody and all major changes are discussed with the entire member body before being implemented, not just the staff.
