Paws on a Path [Everkit, Burningkit, Hollyfrost]

[scrolly:h(244),w(550),sy][atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/7mMA.png] Wrenstar leaped up onto the branch above the warrior's den, feeling the muscles in her legs effortlessly propel her upwards. She settled into the comfortable gap between the branch and the trunk, feeling a sense of happy anticipation. Today was going to be a good day, she was sure. But that wasn't the only reason she was feeling so expectant, so cheerful. She hadn't made new apprentices in ages; it was one of her favourite ceremonies. She knew it was the first ceremony a cat ever took part in, a ceremony that each kit waited six long moons for, and one that was vital to the Clan. She felt a thrill go through her, knowing she was about to be a part of something special once again. It was for this feeling, more than any other, than Wrenstar loved being the leader of her Clan. "May all cats gather in the clearing for a Clan meeting!" Wrenstar's words went out, calm and confident as she projected her voice as far as she could. She tried to appear completely calm and poised for ceremonies; the emotion of them was all for the kits, the apprentices, the one-day-in-the-future warriors that were the life's blood of her Clan. She took note of the warriors gathering in the clearing with a casual eye, her gaze searching for the two kits she was about to make apprentices. She had already decided their mentors; Everkit was going to be her own apprentice, and Hollyfrost would mentor Burningkit. She saw potential in both of them. Where were they? [/scrolly]

Hai! Hollyfrost will be making an appearance soon, but Hollyfrost''s, AKA Aletheia's, mom is yelling at her to get in the shower so they can go to the Girl Scout meeting.

[atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/7JnH.png] Hollyfrost padded into camp. Wrenstar had requested the clan to gather. She figured it was because of the two new apprentices, Everkit and Burningkit. But she never thought that she'd be a mentor. Even so, she couldn't help but hope that she was wrong. Hollyfrost could see Wrenstar searching through the crowd from her branch;probably looking for the future mentors. She looked around too. Who would it be? She waited impatiently for the rest of the clan to gather. Burningkit and Everkit weren't there yet- maybe they were sleeping? Hollyfrost debated whether to go fetch them. She decided to let Wrenstar make that decision. Wrenstar would get them if they were too late. But wouldn't they be super excited about this? Why were they late?

[Burningpaw]

Burningkit, hearing the call, quickly scrambled over to the clearing and out of the nursery. He didn't dare to speak, but his heart was almost exploding in his chest - as it was everytime Wrenstar called a Clan meeting. Please make me an apprentice, [/i[ he tried to send a thought-message to Wrenstar.

[scrolly:h(244),w(550),sy][atrb=background,http://i.imm.io/7mMA.png] Wrenstar's eyes swept the clearing for Everkit, but she could not find her among the bright pelts of the DawnClan cats. Wrenstar frowned, then shrugged it off for Burningkit's sake. This was the kits' day, and if Everkit didn't turn up, she could always do her ceremony later. Wrenstar caught Burningkit looking at her urgently as though trying to telepathically communicate. She almost laughed, but managed to keep a straight face, with difficulty. "I have gathered you here to see one of my favourite ceremonies," Wrenstar told the Clan. "By naming apprentices, we show that DawnClan grows and is strong. Each young cat is one of the heroes of the future." Wrenstar paused, then called, "Burningkit, you are now six moons old. Step forwards." She paused again. Her gaze travelled slowly around the clearing, giving the young cat time to do as she asked whilst not making Wrenstar appear to be staring. Now her voice rang out proud and true, with a strength that had not been there a few moments ago. She stood on the branch as the leader of DawnClan and that straightened her spine and raised her voice and brightened her eyes. "From this moment on, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be known as Burningpaw." The Clan cheered, Burningpaw! Burningpaw! and Wrenstar added her voice to the tumult. She gave the Clan a few more moments, then raised her tail for quiet once more. "Hollyfrost, step forwards... You are ready to take on another apprentice, and I can think of no better cat.... You will be mentor to Burningpaw. Hollyfrost, you have shown yourself to be a warrior and deputy of courage and intelligence. I know you will pass on these strengths to your new apprentice." [/scrolly]

[Everpaw]

Everkit woke with a start. She looked around her, but no cats remained in the nursery. Feeling a surge of panic, she leaped to her feet and scrambled out of the nursery. The rest of Dawnclan was crowded beneath Wrenstar- she was late to her apprentice ceremony! She sped through the crowd, not even pausing to apologise to those she bumped into. "Wrenstar! I'm here!" She yelled against her better judgement when Wrenstar finished announcing Burningkit's- Burningpaw's- mentor- Hollyfrost.

"I can see that," she told the little kit merrily. Today was turning out to be really rather humorous. Wrenstar considered asking Everkit to step forwards, before discarding it as pointless. All eyes were already on the little kit. Slipping back into leader-mode, Wrenstar looked down at Everkit. "From this moment on, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be known as Everpaw." The cheering came again, Everpaw! Everpaw! Wrenstar joined in just as enthusiastically as she had for Burningpaw. The Clan grew quiet when she paused for breath, then she announced happily, "I, Wrenshadow, will mentor Everpaw myself." Bounding down from the branch above the warrior's den, Wrenstar went to touch noses with her new apprentice. [/scrolly]
