"RAWR!" Burningkit screamed, getting hit lightly with the paw. "You might as well give up the fight now, Everstar! You will fail in the end! BOW DOWN!"
Quickly, he ran in a little circle and attempted to paw at her again.

Everkit pretended to fall, playing dead. "Noooooooo!" She made mock gurgling noises with the back of her throat, preparing to jump at Burningkit when he came closer.

Burningkit turned and smiled. "HA HA HA! I HAVE DONE IT! I, MOUSE-BRAINSHADOW OF NEVERLCAN, HAVE WON!" He beamed.
Burningkit hopped over next to Everkit, blissfully unaware of her plan. "Any last words, Everstar?" He said in his best deep, intimidating voice.

"Never!" Everkit bounced back up and leaped at Burningkit. She landed on him less gracefully than she had imagined, in a tangle of paws and tail. "Die, Mouse-Brainshadow!"

"Aagh." Burningkit fell over and landed spread out flat on the ground under the weight of Everkit. His tounge rolled out of his mouth. "aaaagh." He took a deep breath and tried to wriggle out from under her, but to no avail.
"Aaagh. I'm sorry. I give up. You win. NeverClan surrenders," Burnkingkit said in the voice of someone who was clearly unable to breathe.

The little cat didn't lead as many patrols as she should; with no apprentice to train and no duties except for making decisions, she'd been getting precious little exercise recently. It was something she regretted and Wrenstar decided that when Burningkit and Everkit were old enough she'd take one of them for an apprentice. She slid into camp, emerging from under the cover of the leaves in time to hear Burningkit surrender to Everkit. She laughed. It was so easy to worry about every little thing, but kits - any kits - always had the power to cheer her up. "I'd get off him, Everkit, I don't think he can breathe and for all you know he might decide to take revenge while you sleep," Wrenstar joked as she leapt onto the branch above the warriors' den. It was her customary position from which to watch the Clan wake up and greet her warriors as they struggled one by one from their sleep and their nice warm nests. She loved DawnClan with a fierce passion and such moments, such greetings, were extremely precious to her. Her gaze returned to the two playing kits. It was almost time for their apprentice ceremony, though Wrenstar had never been particularly good at keeping time, and their exact age eluded her. She had already decided their mentors, though had informed nobody of her choices yet. She stretched and ran through a checklist in her mind, trying to remember what she'd done and what was still needing doing, then gave up. Today would be a hazy day- though she still remembered with glorious clarity that sharp, pure moment upon the clifftop when she'd looked into the rising sun and felt the surety of hope soar inside her.

They had returned from the dawn patrol- everything had appeared to be in order. She sat down near the nursery and and smiled as she watched the kits play their game. They pawed at each other playfully, not yet knowing the horrors of real battle. Maybe that was a good thing. She remembered when she was a kit, so absent of worry, so careless, bouncing around happily and playing games with her friends. It seemed like so long ago.
