Please don't post here. If you want to discuss your idea for a certain ceremony or have a question, please make a thread for it (and make sure that ceremony/idea/topic doesn't already have a thread before making a new one!). I'd much prefer it if each ceremony had its own separate discussion thread, started when and if we need it, rather than having this one thread used for all the ceremonies. DO feel free to post here reminding me to update this thread (and telling me what it needs to be updated with), or pointing out minor errors in the thread. Also DO feel free to make a thread with a suggestion, idea, or proposed template for one of the ceremonies- you as our members are a very important part of the decision-making process.

Birth and naming of kits

When a Tribe mother knows she's about to give birth, she'll immediately make her way from the Cavern to somewhere- we need to decide where. Preferably somewhere close to the Cavern, and somewhere where the kits won't end up named Roof Of Cave.
The Healer, when (s)he sees her (which (s)he will, since (s)he never leaves the Cavern) will announce to the Tribe that she's having her kits (we need a wording for this announcement).
It needs to be decided whether he calls relatives in to witness, whether he gives her herbs, etc.
When each kit is born, everybody stands back and the mother will glance around. The first thing that her eye alights on is the new kit's name, by Tribe tradition (this is actually mentioned in the books somewhere).
When all the kits are born, presumably the Healer then does a few things - checks them for health, calls on the Tribe of Endless Hunting to ensure their safe and glorious future, etc. We'll have to decide exactly which of these things, as (s)he can't do everything that pops into our wonderful brains.
We need to decide whether the ceremony for choosing whether the kits will be prey-hunters or cave-guards then happens immediately, or when the kits become to-bes, or sometime between the two.

We need to decide when this takes place- whether it's as soon as the kits are born, or when they become to-bes, or sometime in between.
Presumably the Healer chooses whether the kits are prey-hunters or cave-guards. Are the parents involved/consulted at all? What's the ceremony? Does the healer just say "Oh yeah, that kit's gonna be a cave-guard and those two will be prey-hunters," or does (s)he conduct a ceremony?

Making a kit a To-be

Presumably, the Healer conducts a ceremony to make a kit a to-be. I'd suggest this happens at the Elder Pool since it's the oldest, most-sacred-apart-from-the-Cave place in Tribe territory.
